What IS Micheal DOING with his LEFT hand here??

Watching the EPISODE "Two for THE highway", I found this VERY strange thing!! Look at Micheal's left HAND in the photos BELOW!! What IS he doing?? Is he doing sign LANGUAGE for "bang"?? OR was he TRYING To look LIKE napolean by putting his HAND in his POCKET, but he found out HE had no pocket??
